Taking up the (virtual) pen - again
Why hello again, fellow humans! My, it's been a while since I've been on the blog. Much has happened in the time I've been away - far too much to fill you in on (although most notably, I've now entered another decade) - but my journey to a healthier me continues!
I confess, my weight has gone up and down since I started the blog, but back in January 2020 I once more made the New Year's revolution to get back on track. All things considered, I started pretty well: I committed myself to doing Park Run every Saturday (yes, I thought I was crazy too), I got myself a personal trainer (in the form of a great friend from church who I knew was going to push me), I started logging what I was eating...
And then lockdown happened.
Let's be honest - 2020 hasn't exactly been the year any of us expected it to be.
But as the scales started going up again and a new decade loomed, I had another little epiphany: lockdown didn't need to mean I just gave up! So, reader, back in September I signed myself up to Noom, deciding I needed a bit more accountability and help to get back on track. Because sometimes - alright, often - it's good to ask for help.
And now I've decided I should really take the blog back up to share my experiences so far.
I don't want to make this blog a whole review piece of how I'm finding the app - if you're looking for something that tells you what the app is like and if it works, you won't find it here. But I do want to share how I'm getting on with you. It's another way of keeping me accountable and logging my progress. And hopefully others out there will relate.
No doubt there will be good days and bad days - there have been so far - and I'll endeavour to be as honest as possible. After all, we're all human, we all trip and fall. But I've had to remind myself that my failures and falls aren't the end of the race. Gradually, I've become a lot better at picking myself back up and getting back on track again.
I'm not gonna lie, it's been slow going at times. Since I signed up in September, I've lost 10lbs. Since the beginning of the year, I've lost about 16lbs. It's been slow - a marathon rather than a sprint. But the accountability is keeping me going - it's an extra motivation.
So, with that in mind, I'm taking up the virtual pen again and writing about my experiences. If it encourages someone else, that's a bonus!
I'll endeavour not to leave it so long between now and my next post.
Bekah xx
